ACTIVITIES
Art, Craft and Design
Art is a popular subject at St. Clare's, with lots of activity happening both inside and outside of the classroom. We have had several winners in the Credit Union Poster competition at both local and regional level this year. Our Junk Kouture costume "Esspressione della Carte" has made it through to the regional finals in Derry so well done to all the Transition Year students involved! A senior cycle Art History and Appreciation to Dublin will take place soon where our students will see the best Ireland has to offer of both contemporary art and historical art and archeology.

Dance
A new dance group has been set up in the school by Ms. Scully. Up to 30 students meet every Thursday evening from 3.45 to 4.45 to learn hip hop.
As part of the Transition Year Irish module, students learn a number of Irish sets and then teach these to 1st students in the lead up to Seachtain na Gaeilge. A very enjoyable Ceili is held annually during Seachtain na Gaeilge.
Gael Linn Debating
Every year St.Clare’ College takes part in the national debating competition organised by Gael Linn. A team of three students from the Senior Irish class compete against other schools in the Cavan area for a place in the All Ireland Final. In 2013, Bróna Gaffney , Kieran Smith and Jennifer Jumbo reached the 2nd round of the competition.
Seachtain na Gaeilge Every year the students of St.Clare’s College take part in Seachtain na Gaeilge. This runs for two weeks at the beginning of March each year. Students take part in various competitions and activities including poster design, singing, dancing and poetry.
Drama
Students in Transition Year have 3 classes of drama every week. It allows them to develop the ability to cooperate and communicate with others through the medium of drama. The drama module also introduces and develops the aspects of production required for staging a play, for example lights, sound effects, costumes and music.
Last year TY students successfully performed scenes from Dancing at ‘Lughnasa’ by Brian Friel and ‘Moll’ by John B. Keane at their end of year Graduation Night.
