Sporting Activities in St. Clares College

St. Clares College strives to maintain a balanced approach to education. The school is therefore very much aware of the student's need for sport and recreation. The opening of the new gymnasium provides a valuable sporting facility including an Olympic size basketball court.

Teachers give freely of their time in helping students prepare and train for these activities. Sports available to students at present include:

  • Gaelic Football

  • Camogie

  • Handball

  • Rugby

  • Athletics

  • Basketball

  • Soccer

  • Golf

  • Badminton

  • Volleyball/Spikeball

  • Table-Tennis

  • Hurling

Rugby

Rugby is still in its infancy in our school. With the success of the local Virginia Rugby Club at underage level the sport has been hugely successful with the students in our school.

  • The image on the left shows the Ulster U-18 Girls Rugby team that narrowly missed out on winning the Inter-Provincial title to Munster. We are very proud of two of our students Ava Fanin and Ciara Buyers that were both selected as part of this panel.

Pictured on the left are the u-14 boys rugby team competing in this years Virginia area schools cup.
