Sporting Activities in St. Clares College

 

St. Clares College strives to maintain a balanced approach to education. The school is therefore very much aware of the student's need for sport and recreation. The opening of the new gymnasium provides a valuable sporting facility including an Olympic size basketball court.

Teachers give freely of their time in helping students prepare and train for these activities. Sports available to students at present include:

 

  • Gaelic Football

  • Camogie

  • Handball

  • Rugby

  • Athletics

  • Basketball

  • Soccer

  • Golf

  • Badminton

  • Volleyball/Spikeball

  • Table-Tennis

  • Hurling

Gaelic Football (Girls)

 

  • The Senior Girls Football team.

  • Ciara Finnegan who was selected as a dual Ulster All-Star

Gaelic Football (Boys)

 

All three age divisions are well represented in this years football competition.

 

  • Senior Boys Football team that were successful in winning the County title

  • Gavin Daly and James Smith were selected for 2 positions on the Cavan Institute Future All-Star team.

Camogie

Rugby
 

Rugby has been newly introduced to the school. Our u14 boys recently took part in a Virginia Area Cup (pictured left)

 

We also have a strong contingent of girls that train and compete in Tag Rugby competitions (pictured left).

The girls won the 7-a-side Virginia Area Girls Tag Blitz for the first time.
